Cancellation Policy
1. Cancellation: Any cancellation made by the Tenant shall be in writing addressed to the Owner or his Agent at the address stated at the bottom of the booking application form. The notification period starting upon receipt of same. Because of our small size, the last minute cancellation gives us little chance of filling the space.
1.1. Cancellations made 30 or more days in advance: You can elect to apply the full amount of your deposit towards a future stay with us (within one year). Or Owner shall refund to the Tenant all monies paid (whether a deposit or full payment have been made), less a service charge of $50.
1.2.Cancellations made less than 30 days in advance: no refund, regardless of the reason, unless we get the cottage rented for the entire original period, in which case, you get a refund of your deposit less a $50 handling/processing fee.
1.3. In the unlikely event that circumstances beyond the Property Owner's control necessitate the cancellation of the rental arrangement, the Property Owner reserves the right to cancel any bookings at any time and will only be liable to refund monies already paid by the Tenant.
1.4. In the unlikely event of cancellations by the Property Owner, the Owner will inform the Tenant as soon as reasonably practicable and fully refund you any monies the Tenant has paid.
1.5. The Tenant expressly acknowledges that in no event shall the Property Owner be held liable for any consequential or secondary damages including, but not limited to, any expenses incurred as a result of travel, cost of re-renting, etc.
1.6. No refunds due to weather, road conditions, change of plans, or early departures. All Tenants are financially responsible for the entire booking once your reservation has been made. The Property Owner is not responsible for damages incurred due to weather or cost to evacuate Tenants or vehicles.
1.7. In the late fall, winter, and early spring it is not uncommon to occasionally have hazardous road conditions. It is strongly recommended that all Tenants during these seasons have four-wheel drive and/or winter tires. Winter road conditions and maintenance are not guaranteed. No refunding due to road conditions.
We, therefore, suggest that travel cancellation insurance is taken out for all parties included.

Reservations are confirmed upon receipt of 30% of the total rental charge and payment in full is due 30 days before arrival
If the reservation is within 30 days of check-in 100% payment is required.
Reservation require 30% Deposit paid by credit card.
For the balance payment, approximately 30 days before arrival, the balance payment will be automatically charged to your credit card that is on file with our merchant. (unless prior written arrangements have been made and agreed to.)
INVENTORY/DAMAGE DEPOSIT: We use a credit card "authorisation only" hold, rather than a cash inventory/damage deposit.
CREDIT CARD AUTHORISATION: You understand and consent to the use of the credit card you have provided, without the original signature on the charge slip for all Cottage charges and as an "authorisation only" hold for either rental fees due or the inventory-damage deposit. An acceptable credit card with a credit limit high enough to cover the Inventory/Damage deposit must be on file before arrival. You agree that authorisation of your credit card will not be revoked and will not terminate until 60 days after the leased premises vacated. We do not charge for damages against your account without your knowledge.

Absolutely Fantastic Experience!!

For a week starting on August 10th, we visited Martin’s Point Cottage for our vacation. The cottage totally lived up to the pictures on the website and more. The views of Lake Huron were absolutely fantastic!! The cottage provides everything you might need - linens, towels, kitchen equipment. Air conditioning, heating, bbq, outdoor furniture. Even a stackable washer and dryer. Stainless steel appliances. Spa bathroom with heated floors. Great location in a private place. Easy access. Any concerns were promptly addressed. Close to a nearby beach and general store and pub. Absolutely recommend this cottage for a wonderful vacation.

So we absolutely loved staying at Martin's Point Cottage - the location was very peaceful and quiet and we were able to enjoy a laid back week! This is a lovely cottage with all the comforts of home - well stocked kitchen, stainless steel appliances, super comfortable bed - and the bathroom - wow! It really felt like you were in a spa - nice rain showerhead, and the abundance of lux towels and all the finishes of a spa-like bathroom - a real treat!! Loved the wood floors, so easy to keep clean. It was a bonus to have to have the water cooler with extra refill! We loved the air conditioning as there were some days when it was pretty warm - but there was a nice breeze coming from the lake so at night it was great to leave windows open and you could hear the waves breaking the shore - perfect way to end the day. Ceiling fans in the bedrooms were nice too. Having the washer and dryer was so convenient to do a wash. The location was perfect as we went into Goderich and Bayfield a few times and visited some smaller communities we have never been to - everything was close to the cottage. Due to the fire ban we weren't able to have a fire in the pit but not a big deal - we loved sitting out in the Muskoka chairs overlooking the lake with a good book and a cup of coffee and binoculars. This was one of the few cottages that allowed pets - thank you so much for allowing this! This was one of the reasons we chose Martin's Point. It meant so much to be able to bring our small dog with us instead of kennelling him. We were able to take him for awesome walks down quiet South St. The neighbourhood is super friendly - everyone waves like you have been there forever! The distance from London was perfect - not a super long drive and just far enough to feel like you were away from it all. The booking process was so easy and as our cottage date got closer, we received reminder emails about the booking . The one thing I found super helpful was the emailed checklist of pretty much everything in the cottage - it really made it easier for us to pack . Extra touches like this meant a lot, in that you really take care of your cottage folks and are invested in their stay! We will definitely recommend this cottage to stay at and we will be returning. Thank you to Keith and June for your hospitality and answering all of our questions! See you soon!

Beach and Sun

Many Lake Huron cottages are peppered with steep drops to the beach area. This cottage had a road to the beach that if anyone found too steep was easily rectified by a 2 min drive to the beach in Pt Albert , west on Melbourne St, where there is parking and flat accessible beach available along with great ice cream cones at Pt Albert General store east on Melbourne St.
Goderich is a quick 10 min drive south to good restaurants and shopping. Bayfield is 30 min drive south as well with lots of boutique type shops and a lot of eating establishments as well, a good day trip. “The Docks” restaurant in Bayfield at the marina is a particularly good place to eat, not too fancy but great food, and don’t be fooled if parking lot seems full there can still be tables available and some people park across the hwy on the side of road, you can also make reservations.
The cottage provided a lot of information re the local area and any current events which is also helpful.
